The Spirit of Giving – Celebrating the 2014 Christmas Season

At J.D. Irving, Limited, we understand the importance of giving back - through charitable donations, sponsorships, and the many efforts of our dedicated employee volunteers. Below are four examples of the community projects JDI has been a part during the holiday season.

Stan Cassidy Tree Lighting

J.D. Irving, Limited was a platinum-level sponsor of the Stan Cassidy Foundation’s annual Light Up a Life event in Fredericton, NB.  The used medical equipment recycling program and the centre’s two volunteer programs, which support the Care & Comfort initiative and the patient family hostel Kiwanis House, all benefit from the fundraising program.

Stan Cassidy Foundation Board Chair Lynn Irving, 2014 Honorary Tree-lighter and Stand Cassidy Foundation grant recipient Sophie Gagnon, Sophie’s Dad Serge Gagnon, and Stan Cassidy Foundation Executive Director Alissa Lee at the tree-lighting ceremony.

PALS Hampers

As part of the PALS (Partners Assisting Local Schools) program, JDI employees provided Christmas hampers for 28 families in need.  The baskets were filled with food items, including vegetables and turkeys, as well as small gifts and games.

John Jacquard and Dean Marr of the Facilities Department of the Anglophone South School District help deliver Christmas hampers to families in need.

Romero House Food Delivery

This December JDI delivered over $5,000 of food to Romero House, including fresh and frozen meat, dairy products, and canned and dry food.

Sponsoring Symphony New Brunswick

J.D. Irving, Limited is proud to have sponsored Symphony New Brunswick’s Christmas Concerts in Moncton, Fredericton, and Saint John.

The concert series, titled “An Early Christmas in New Brunswick”, was a tribute to the spirit of Christmases past, featuring Rothesay Contralto Heather Flemming and the Louisbourg Choir.
