United Way’s #1 Corporate Campaign raising $144,465

Employee-led campaign for Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick greatly surpasses goal

Dieppe, New Brunswick – After years of growing the employee-led campaign, J.D. Irving, Limited’s operations in the Greater Moncton area became the #1 corporate campaign for the 2020 United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick’s annual fundraiser.

“I’m proud of our employees in Greater Moncton for giving back to the community where we live and work. This year was truly one of the most important years to give,” said Mr. Robert K. Irving, Co-CEO for J.D. Irving, Limited. “Raising our highest amount of $144,465 could not come at a better time. COVID-19 has caused vulnerable people in our community to face even greater challenges. Now more than ever, we need to provide assistance to those who need it most.”

The 2020 campaign beat the previous year’s total by $13,021 and greatly surpassed the $100,000 goal.

“COVID-19 prevented us from doing many of our usual fundraising, but we still raised over $9,500 through our special events, including an auction, casual days, and various draws. We also had a large focus on individual campaign pledges,” said Mr. Irving. “Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign and to the campaign committee for their efforts to have a record campaign despite the pandemic.”

On top of having the largest campaign, J.D. Irving also won the Outstanding Leadership Growth Award for adding 6 new leaders to its payroll campaign. Leaders commit to donating a minimum of $1,000 a year to the United Way.

“We’re grateful to live in a community that truly cares about helping each other and to work with a group of tireless supporters. When we launched our campaign back in September, we challenged ourselves and everyone to continue our work to tackle the unignorable issues in our community. What we saw was tremendous generosity, compassion, care, and incredible community spirit. What we saw was true local love,” said Philip Sallaj, Chair of the Campaign Cabinet for the United Way of Greater Moncton and Southeastern New Brunswick.
