World’s Largest Truck Convoy

The Special Olympics Truck Convoy took place on September 19 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. This international event celebrates the trucking industry while also raising funds for Special Olympics athletes. The convoy occurs in 24 states and 4 provinces, making it the World’s Largest Truck Convoy and, to date, has raised over $113,000 for the Special Olympics.

This year, there were 172 trucks in the convoy, 14 of which were Midland. This number has increased from the four Midland entered in the first year.

Richard Kalbhenn, Dartmouth Terminal Manager, Midland said he had no problem recruiting local drivers to participate in the event. “The driver and community support has been exceptional. It has been a great way to bring together our Dartmouth team and support a great cause that holds a special place for many in our community,” said Kalbhenn.

The highlight of the event was a special visit from Ice Road Truckers’ Alex Debogorski, who visited the terminal to thank Midland for raising the most pledges in the 2014 convoy.
