Employment Equity Award

SAINT JOHN, NB – RST-Sunbury has been named the Innovation Award winner at the 2024 Employment Equity Achievement Awards.

The awards highlight federally regulated private-sector employers in Canada who exhibit employment equity in their workplaces, particularly in the cases of women, Indigenous people, people with disabilities and members of visible minorities.

“Finding a better way, every day is a key value at RST,” said Don Bonnell, General Manager of RST. “When we use that drive to further our employee equity initiatives, we know we will be successful.”

The Innovation Award recognizes employers who have found novel ways to implement employment equity. This may include creativity in:

  • design and implementation of measures aimed at removing employment barriers,
  • adoption of special measures and/or accommodations,
  • establishment of positive policies or practices,
  • forward-thinking human resources practices,
  • development of new or unique initiatives.

"We understand the importance of employee equity and are very proud of the steps we've taken so far," said Chris Bell, General Manager of Sunbury Transport.

This isn’t the first time RST-Sunbury has been recognized in this way. The company was named Employment Equity Champion at the 2023 Employment Equity Achievement Awards.
