Atlantic Wallboard is proud to offer a scholarship for the children of employees every year, a tradition of investing in the next generation at JDI companies. In the past, a handful of students would receive the scholarship based on an essay about the importance of having an education. Starting in 2021, the Beaman family and Atlantic Wallboard will offer a $1500 scholarship, named in memory of the late Private Michal Edward Beaman.

Pte. Beaman was a young, hardworking reservist in the Canadian Military whose life was cut tragically short. Michal’s legacy is one of taking action, working together, and inspiring kindness. Recognized for his innate ability to bring out the best in others, Michal employed an admirable leadership style founded in integrity and leading by example.

"Atlantic Wallboard has been providing a scholarship to the children of its employees for years. When one of our employees suffered the unimaginable loss of their child earlier this year, the entire team wanted to honour Michal and the values he exemplified. The Beaman family is resilient and strong and we look forward to this special remembrance of every year moving forward as part of our efforts to support the children of our employees," says Jenna Hazelton, General Manager at Wallboard.

The scholarship will continue to be offered to children of Atlantic Wallboard employees, who spend time giving back to the community, show integrity and leadership in all they do, and who have an aptitude for innovation.
